The early bird catches an SQ flight to Surabaya to kick-start the 13th eLC Holdings Annual Company Retreat! One early Thursday morning, eLCians from eLC Pte Ltd and POWERdrive Pte Ltd gathered at Changi Airport for their departure to Indonesia. Everyone was in high spirits and looked forward to travelling in style on board our world-renowned national carrier!
You can't spell "Retreat" without the word "treat." We were in for a big one! Our colleagues from eLC Services Sdn Bhd joined up with us at Guilin Restaurant and we were set for our first meal together as one big family. The restaurant served up a sumptuous 10 course Chinese-style lunch. The generous servings of mouth-watering morsels left us with sated appetites.
Our accommodation at the Singhasari Resort was truly one of the highlights of the Retreat. A perfect blend of Indonesian culture, traditions, lifestyle and beauty, it served as a pleasant backdrop for the Retreat. Top-notch amenities and service, the Resort received high praise from everyone!
The first night's dinner was at the Chilli Padi Resto. You'd think that we might still be full from lunch. Let's just say we managed to clean out their kitchen's stock of food. After dinner, we took our buses back to the resort and retired to our rooms for some well-needed rest, to recharge for the upcoming full day of activities.
Day 2 started off as a solemn affair. We had our Annual General Meeting, followed by the Brand eLC workshop, focus group discussion and concluded with a large group sharing session. We looked back on the past year's challenges and successes, and were given a glimpse of the way forward as an organisation. Everyone had the opportunity to raise their concerns and have those concerns addressed. Do you remember what you wrote for your resolution?
A day of serious discussion and reflection was behind us. Work hard, play harder. It was time for the Gala Supper. We went to the nearby bar for a night of light-hearted fun and games. Live DJ, entertaining emcee, food, drinks and great company, what else could you ask for? It was a merry atmosphere as we cheered and supported one another. Win or lose, everyone had a great time.
The morning of Day 3, we had our Team Building. To begin, we had the traditional mixing (and of course downing) of the eLC Drink. Then we split off in our groups for Team Building activities. Station after station, our challenge was to clear the given obstacles as a cohesive unit. Through teamwork and some out-of-the-box thinking, we found the solutions. Nothing could stand in our way (not even the CEO's interference.)
Team Building was followed by Free & Easy at the Floating Market. In the evening, we gathered back at the resort bar for a buffet dinner / football chill-out session. Time to unwind!
All good things come to an end. The fourth day marked the beginning of the end of the Retreat as we made our journey back to Singapore and to our usual routines.
These words resonated throughout the Retreat and set the tone for a meaningful and memorable experience for all eLCians. Let us now look forward to the rest of the year and end it on an even higher note (at our Annual D&D!)
