Tribute to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew

26th Mar 2015

The company paid its respect to our late founding PM Mr. Lee Kuan Yew at Parliament House on 26 Mar 2015. Despite knowing that the queue might take up to 8 hours from the previous day's experience, the turn out by the company staff was overwhelming except for those on essential operational duties. The followings are tributes and reflections penned by the company's leadership and staff.

"We have lost a great leader. Learn from the man; his vision, determination and perseverance to create what we are today! Thank You Mr. LKY. I believe the best way to commemorate this great leader is to preserve and improve what he have fought for and bring this little red dot to greater heights."

"LEE KUAN YEW was many things to Singaporeans: father figure, visionary, social disciplinarian and sage. He was the man who played the decisive role in the creation of Singapore as the people know it today. He inspired us, gave us courage, kept us together and brought us here. He fought for independence, built a nation where there was none, and made us proud to be Singaporeans. We won't see another man like him. This is a quote from Mr. Lee that resonated with me over the years: "Over 100 years ago, this was a mudflat, a swamp. Today, this is a modern city. Ten years from now, this will be a metropolis. Never fear!" - His speech on Sept 12, 1965, just a month after Independence."

"Dear Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, Thank you so much for your contributions in building up the nation. Together with your team, and the pioneer generation of Singaporeans, you turned this country into a metropolis. From a small red dot on the map, to a thriving city-state well recognised in the world, not only for its governance, but also its transportation system, cleanliness and healthcare systems. You set up systems not only to put a roof above our heads, but also encouraged us to put food on our plates ourselves. Overhauled the education system to ensure that the younger generation have a good education. This are some of the systems that other countries want to learn from Singapore, and its success story. You have put in all of your life to build this country, We salute you. I shall forever remember this quote: "I have no regrets. I have spent my life, so much of it, building up this country. There is nothing more that I need to do. At the end of the day, what have I got? A successful Singapore. What have I given up? My Life." - Lee Kuan Yew, Hard Truths To Keep Singapore Going"
