This year 2-4 Sept 2011 marks eLC's 8th Company Retreat! We had the gathering of 53 staff of eLC (Singapore & Malaysia) & POWERdrive at Holiday Inn, in the beautiful Historical City of Malacca, Malaysia. This retreat also extends to all eLC & POWERdrive Staff immediate families. It's FAMILY time again! It's that time of the year where we all look forward to a holiday together, a break away from our daily busy routines.
Upon arrival, it was free and easy for all. As we walked the streets of HISTORICAL MALACCA, with much jokes and laughter ringing aloud, in the midst of being a tourist ourselves, taking lots & lots of photos, looking for all the yummy-licious authentic Malaccan food/snacks/desserts to satisfy our appetites, and of course 'Shop till we Drop', especially along the famous JONKER STREET.
And for many it's also a time of R&R in the luxurious HOLIDAY INN, facing the sea, with facilities such as Gym, Sauna, Spa and Steam Room, Infinity Edge Outdoor Swimming Pool. On top of that we are just walking distance from many nearby local shops, and the night life in Malacca is not short of entertainments such as pubs/clubs, theatre and Malacca's must try trishaw rides around the city during the night, beautifully decorated with lots of colorful flowers & brightly lighted with small bulb lights, each with their own boom box to entertain you along the way!
Our annual AGM was held on Saturday, 3 September 2011 afternoon after a scrumptious buffet lunch! Our CEO, Mr. William Chua used this illustration of our journey together as a family of eLC & POWERdrive. Just as the Malaysian Staff travelled down south and the Singapore Staff travelled up North, towards Malacca, meeting half way for this family retreat, likewise in our working relationship as colleagues, there will be many times and situations where we will find ourselves having to meet halfway as we continue our journey in bringing eLC & POWERdrive to greater heights in this coming year. Reports from various departments lined the agenda. The AGM is also a time where we expressed and sharde what's from/in the hearts of eLC & Powerdrive Staf. Matters and issues were highlighted and further streamlined for a smoother running of daily processes for the betterment of the company.
The day was concluded with a fantabulous BBQ Buffet spread, set at the Hotel poolside. The weather in the evening was perfect! Nice cool weather, with a fresh breeze from the seafront, relaxing music, nicely decorated tables & great overall dining ambience for a great night with lots of meat & seafood BBQ, mixed with good selections of soups, salads, local Malaccan desserts, fruits and free flow of beer for all who loves beer! On top of that, our generous CEO booked the top floor of a club for us to hang out after dinner for an all night partying and dance!
The next day we checked out after an early buffet breakfast, and head out for a half day tour the historical Malacca which includes places such as A' Formosa historical complex, St. Paul's church, Porta de Santiago, Sam Poh Teng Temple. To end the tour, every tourist will visit the ever popular 'Tan Kim Hock' shop. It's the first original local success brand of local Malaccan delights. And of course, the trip ends with an authentic local Baba Nyonya lunch before we depart for home.
