As part of eLC's continous effort on R&D in training and learning, eLC sent a six-member strong team to participate in the Inter-service/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) 2010 held at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida. (I/ITSEC) 2010 showcases revolutionary technology in Modeling, Training, Simulation and Education from all spectrum. Other than government agencies and big companies, there are also many Small-Medium Enterprises involved in creating innovative simulation and computer technology. For eLC and POWERdrive PTE LTD, we are excited to view the progress of mobile learning, driving simulators and serious gaming from others and gained from the overall experience.

Deputy Head Platform of Training in POWERdrive Pte Ltd, Steven Chng recalls, "I noticed that what they exhibited is what we already have in the pipeline. While mobile learning is not appropriate in all instances, I believe that it should be considered as an important part of the total learning and training support infrastructure."

Another interesting fact gleaned from the conference; for motion-driving simulators, most of them used the Six Degrees Of Freedom (6DoF) technology. "It is similar to the Leopard Driving Training Simulator (LDTS) currently employed by Armour in their training. The Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and the platforms displayed are congruent with the LDTS. The only difference is in the add-on of three-dimensional projector screens to enhance the experience.. William Chua,CEO of eLC concurred.

Serious aside, no trips are complete without R&R for the travelling party and it is to the malls and shops in Orlando and New York City after the conference to round up a fruitful trip. The less fortunate ones that were left in Singapore are so looking forward to the next I/ITSEC to see for themselves where the company will be heading next.

All in all, this conference cum exhibition was a great eye-opener, especially for the first-timer visitors such as Steven and Melissa (the self-assigned photographer). For the veterans, it enhanced the clarity of what eLC has been doing and reinforced the direction that both companies are heading to.
