The 6th Lectora Competition is Open for Registration!

1st August 2010

OVERVIEW

Following a successful ´Flying High @ Five with eLC´ celebrating our 5th year of organising the competition for Lectora users in the region, we are pleased to announce that registration for our 6th Lectora eLearning courseware competition 2010 is officially open. Those who have missed last year´s deadline can participate in this year´s competition.

The competition aims to showcase and recognise outstanding examples of eLearning courseware, and encourage the creation of good interactive web-based learning resources for the purpose of teaching and learning. There is no restriction on courseware duration and themes. However Lectora must be used to develop the content.

Due to the extreme positive feedback from the special prize winners last year, Mdm Sharin and Ms Lee, we have decided to extend the special prize to this year´s winners as well. There will be TWO SPECIAL PRIZE winners selected to represent all the winning entries in next year´s Lectora User Conference in USA in 2011. Quoting one of the winners, Ms Lee, "We were very fortunate that eLC gave us the opportunity to attend the Lectora User Conference at Cincinnati, USA. In the conference, we learnt from Lectora experts on how to make our Lectora courseware more interactive. We also realised how to get around with Lectora to include innovative questions to engage the learners. ... Finally, this conference has spurred our passion in Lectora to a greater height and we are already thinking on how to deploy these new skills into our next Lectora courseware."

CATEGORIES

There are two categories for registration: Open and Academic categories. The Open category is for all members of general public whereas the Academic category is for a team of four students currently attending any academic institution accompanied by a teacher in charge.

AWARDS

As per previous years, there will be two awards offered for this competition: Best Demonstration of Instructional Design, and Best Use of Multimedia, Interaction, or Simulation. Under the Instructional Design category, the courseware will be evaluated for its soundness in Instructional Design as well as its effectiveness in teaching the objectives. Under the Multimedia, Interaction or Simulation category, the courseware will be evaluated for its relevant and efficient usage of Multimedia.

Last year´s competition received over 100 entries from 30 different organisations including the schools, statutory boards, government ministries, local and multinational companies in Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. We saw extremely high qualities of entries last year, awarding a total of 26 awards. 8 awards were presented to the different SAF units, 5 awards to corporate and 13 awards to schools.
