LDTS Installation and Training (Singapore)

13th Jan 2010 - 5th Feb 2010

It was again an exciting start to the year for eLC as the simulator team assisted their German counterparts from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), who were in Singapore for the delivery of a pair of Leopard driving simulators for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

The installations works for the simulators started on 13th January 2010. Members of the simulator team, who had been trained in Munich between August and September 2009, assisted the KMW engineers to ensure a smooth and quick installation. eLC also actively participated and assisted in the operator and maintenance training sessions conducted by KMW for the users. With our in-depth knowledge and experience of the various KMW simulators, eLC were able to provide additional information and resources to enable the users to quickly grasp the information required to operate and care for the simulators as the training sessions progressed.

All this came to a conclusion when the acceptance test for the simulators was conducted between KMW, DSTA and the SAF from 3rd - 5th February 2010. On the 5th of February 2010, the system was accepted, and now the SAF has in its possession two brand new Leopard driving simulators, with which they will be able to quickly train the drivers in various conditions and environments. This brings a new dimension to the training capabilities of the SAF, who already have with them five other Leopard simulators purchased from KMW.

In eLC, we have always prided ourselves in having a good time, even in the midst of strenuous workloads and tight deadlines. This time was no exception. In the hustle and bustle of ensuring that the system was delivered on time and with quality, eLC hosted KMW on three separate occasions, including a night out at St. James Power Station. Anyone who claims that engineers do not know how to have fun has certainly not partied with eLC and our friends.

The success story of the delivery of the new simulators, speaks volumes of the relationship between eLC and KMW, and also our continued abilities to add value to the users through the continued building of this relationship. Cheers!
