Lectora Carnival and Awards Ceremony 2010

img

The Annual Lectora Carnival and Awards Ceremony is held for the 5th year @ the Intercontinental Hotel on the 22nd of January 2010.

There are many 'firsts' in this year's event:

  • Sponsorship of two grand prizes of an all expenses paid trip to attend the annual Lectora User Conference held in Cincinnati, US, this coming April
  • Showcase of games from the past 5 years' carnivals
  • Conduct of workshops on Lectora Online & Advanced Lectora

  • This year, eLC decided to give a preview of Lectora Online and Advanced Lectora to our Lectora users by conducting the two workshops before the actual award ceremony. The workshops were conducted by John Blackmon (all the way from US, Orlando), Senior Vice-President, Authoring Systems of Trivantis, one of the key developers of Lectora and Lectora Online, and Teo Huey Chin, Senior Consultant of eLC.

To commemorate the 5th year, we also did a remembrance of all the past years´ games with four of the eight game booths showcasing games from past events, and the remainder four game booths loaded with newly-created games.

All these are set in an informal, carnival-like setting where participants can play these games and win prizes, such as Squeegee planes and eLC's Pilot Bear, a collector's item for this year, in-line with our "Flying High @ Five" theme.

With more than 100 entries from over 30 organisations, our panel of judges has a hard time trying to decide on the winners as the standards of entries were comparatively higher this year. After much consideration, eLC selected 26 winners, 18 of which are Bronze awards, 7 Silver awards and 1 Gold award. The two grand prizes were specially awarded to the teacher-in-charge of the best winning entry in the Academic Category and the best entry in the Open Category respectively. Congratulations to all the winners!

After the event, we had a celebration to bring the event to a happy close as always and this would not be successful without everyone's hard work and participation.

"It was a wonderful experience for both participants and staff alike. Now, I am already looking forward to a more exciting and fun Lectora Carnival next year!" enthused Christer Dela Cruz, Consultant.
